How do I become a real
estate salesperson?
In Michigan, to become a licensed
real estate salesperson, the
applicant first needs to take a forty
hour real estate course. This course
can be taken as a homestudy, online
or as in class instruction. After
successfully completing the real
estate training fundamentals
course, the applicant must then take
the Michigan state salespersons
licensing exam, administered by PSI
Exams, with a passing score of
seventy percent or better. In
Michigan, it is required that the
license of a real estate salesperson
be connected to an employing
broker thatthe salesperson has
chosen to work with.
What does the course
cover?
Each of our courses cover the
following fundamentals, which are
on the state licensing exam, that will
ensure you have the ability to
successfully pass the Michigan real
estate salesperson exam. The
courses cover contracts, property
ownership, liens and community
ownership, property description and
title, leasing land and use, and
taxation. Pricing property,
introduction to finance, real estate
math, and loans are other topics are
also covered. This course also
includes the required license law
and rules as well as agency, fair
housing, and ADA plus additional
state specific topics including
licensing and statutory
requirements.
I have completed the
course, what is next?
After completing the forty hour
Michigan real estate salesperson
course, your next step is to apply for
licensure through the State of
Michigan. Upon review and approval
of your application, the state will
then mail you a MIRE number. This
number is your permission to test.
You will then provide this number to
PSI Exams in order to schedule your
salespersons licensing exam. Once
you take and pass this exam, PSI
Exams will report your passing
results to the state. At that time the
state will then issue your Michigan
real estate salespersons license to
the employing broker that you are
working with and have indicated as
such on your application.
